When to Replace Your AC Unit
By Dean’s Service | October 08, 2018
Replacing your air conditioner is never an enjoyable task but it is a necessary one. To figure out whether your unit can get by with simple repairs or whether it needs to be replaced, you should always consult your local HVAC technicians, but this list should give you a good idea as well. Keep reading to learn the signs that your HVAC is about to fail.

Signs that Your AC Unit Needs to be Replaced
Age
If your HVAC unit is more than 10 years old and you have not yet encountered any issues with it, then you should be on the lookout for some in the near future. 10 years is at the high end of the spectrum for the lifespan of an HVAC unit, so be grateful for its longevity, but be on the lookout for a new one.

Loud Noises
Loud noises coming from your AC unit could be a sign of loose parts, a bad motor or a slipped belt. All of these are serious problems that should be addressed by a professional HVAC technician. They don’t necessarily mean that you need to replace the unit immediately, but you will most likely need to in the near future.

Poor Air Flow
This sign may seem obvious, but sometimes we aren’t on the lookout for it; remember that the purpose of your HVAC unit is to circulate air, either cold or warm depending on the temperature you have it set at. If your AC unit is not producing strong air flow, this could be a sign that either your units compressor is failing or you have an issue with your duct work.
